Lamond & Murray over the years have built up many specialist skills and services that are available to our customers.
We endeavour to give our customers a complete service, from design to construction to refurbishment of used parts.

We Currently Hold Stocks As Follows
Steel Bar in the following grades and up to 500mm diameter -
BS970 - 080M40, 070M55, 817M40T, 722M24T, 665M17, 655M13.
Ground Bar up to 120mm diameter - CK45
Cast Iron Bar up to 350mm diameter.
Phosphor Bronze Bar upto 200mm diameter.
Nylon Bar up to 300mm diameter.
Other materials may be ordered as required.
Reverse Engineering
Replacement gears can be made from damaged or worn samples and drawings retained for future spares.
Pattern Equipment
The company has 2000 wooden patterns in stock.
People
The company was founded in 1921 by Walter Murray and Charles Lamond.
Company directors are Douglas Lamond (MD) who has 50 years service, Tom Clarke, who joined in 1962, Alastair Lamond and Iain Lamond, grandsons of the founder.
The company has an extremely loyal and skilled workforce many of whom have over 20 years service.
Currently one apprentice is in training.

Breakdown Service
Lamond and Murray have made considerable investment in raw material stock, allowing breakdown work to started within hours of a phone call or fax. The material grade and size held in stock can been seen below:
This is an area of considerable expertise and invaluable to customers with obsolete or purpose built machinery who have difficulty in obtaining spare parts at affordable prices.
This service can also be conducted on-site, often when gears are worn but still in use and the customer requires replacements and minimum "down time".




Lamond & Murray have a substantial investment in CNC turning equipment and are capable of producing quality single or batch components.
These can be adapted to a particular requirement, saving time and the higher cost of a new pattern .
This is especially advantageous for small quantities
